Procedure

Disperse Avicel into water. Mix until Avicel hydrates. Add remaining phase A ingredients. Heat to 80-90°C. Mix until uniform. Combine phase B ingredients. Heat to 85-95°C. Mix until all ingredients melt and mixture is uniform. Add phase B to phase A with agitation. Mix at 4,000 RPM for 2 minutes. Switch to anchor mixer. Mix while cooling to 35°C. At 35°C, add phase C into phase  A+B. Mix and continue cooling to room temperature.

Properties

Viscosity—1,000cPs, Brookfield, Spindle #T-A, 5RPM; pH—4.32; Stable after 2 months at RT and 45°C; Stable after 2 months at RT and 45°C; Results of 5 subject, Water resistant in vivo SPF; Initial, SPF 18.7; After Wash, SPF 17.1.
